SAP FICO is the finance part of SAP. FI (Financial Accounting) records and reports the company's financial transactions through the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset and bank accounting. What changed with S/4HANA
In S/4HANA, finance data is held in a single universal journal, which reduces the gap between financial and management accounting data. The business concepts above still apply, but some reports and processes are simpler.
Is it a good skill for accountants?
For accountants working in companies that run SAP, yes: it makes them more valuable and speeds up their work. The best way to learn is with business scenarios and practice, not only menus. That is how our corporate programmes are taught.
